PanEco is a non-profit foundation with headquarters in Berg am Irchel. Since 1996 PanEco has been actively involved in nature and species conservation and environmental education in Switzerland and Indonesia.

Founded in early 2000, Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari (YEL; Foundation for Sustainable Ecosystems) is an Indonesian institution focused on environmental issues and community development.

To counteract the explosive extinction of the Sumatran rainforest, the Orangutan Coffee Project of PanEco and YEL supports coffee farmers in the highland of Gayo in Aceh to manage their plantations in an ecological and sustainable way.

SOCP is endeavouring to conserve viable wild populations of the Critically Endangered Sumatran Orangutan. SOCP does this by habitat protection, reintroduction of confiscated pets to the wild, education, survey work and scientific research.
